In the Taxi

The man
places a box
of blueberries
on the seat
between them.
He looks at her,
gives a small smile.
His right hand,
bent at the wrist,
rises as if pulled by a string.
Fingers separate,
stretch up and out,
float downward,
pluck a berry, rise,
glide to his lips.
Almost imperceptibly
he swallows.
