James C. and Jack H.: The James Otis Story

I walked in to the James Otis
There were so many things that I noticed
I saw paintings on the walls
And the classrooms felt so tall
In first grade we learned to add, subtract, read and write
In second grade we learned what’s wrong and what’s right
After COVID came to an end
Third grade I was excited to spend
In fourth grade we learned a lot of math
But then came the MCAS wrath!
5th grade teachers were very strict
But that helped all the learning stick
Our 6th grade class is very fun
But our year at the Otis is halfway done
We are sad we all are going different ways
But we will always remember the key plays
We were excited to join the Scores team
And we tried to make our passes clean
Pencils down, eyes up
We are the winners of the poetry slam cup
The year end carnival is always a blast
The dunk tank line grows very fast
Where we dunk some teachers from our past
We are sad to say goodbye,
But now it’s time for these owls to fly
